Mercure Burton Upon Trent, Newton Park Hotel, Burton-upon-Trent

Our stay had a mix of highlights and low points. While the food quality was excellent and the staff proved friendly and helpful, we were disappointed by the outdated decor and some service hiccups, especially during breakfast. The hotel is set in lovely grounds, adding to its charm, but the room and common areas desperately need an upgrade.

I recently stayed at Newton Park, and while the hotel itself is a stunning old building set in lovely gardens, the experience was a mixed bag. The staff were friendly and check-in was smooth, but I found the room to be outdated and cramped. The potential is there, but it feels like the hotel hasn't kept up with modern expectations, especially in the room decor and bathroom facilities. Overall, it’s a place of charm but could use significant improvements to bring it into the current century.
